Who We Are
Based in Yuksam, the Khangchengdzonga Conservation Committee (KCC) is officially registered in 1997 as a community-based Non-Profit Organisation. KCC strives to promote Yuksam as an eco-tourism destination through promoting environmental awareness, training of local manpower and capacity building. We work closely together with Khangchengdzonga National Park and United Nations Development Programme to ensure sustainable development vis a vis tourism through these areas:

What We Do
We launch initiatives that support local employment on top of environmental conservation and preservation that strengthens the Conservation Federation. We strive to promote Yuksam as an eco and adventure tourism destination through environmentally sustainable development in the area. Since the launch of the Sikkim Biodiversity & Eco-Tourism Project in 1996 - 1998, we have also participated in the Planned Resource Acquisition to promote strengths of Sikkim |
Zero Waste Management System
We promote an environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management system in face of rising tourism in Yuksam. Waste are sorted out to be re-used in the recycling centre. We also train porters, guides and cooks to be responsible in our nature park treks. |
Training of Locals Guides, Porters & Home-Stay Operators
We organise official training programmes for the accreditation and certification of local guides, porters and home-stay operators As home-stays have been gaining in popularity among tourists, KCC has since focused on training our home-stay operators to promote genuine Sikkimese culture and way of living. |
Tourists
We provide services for tourists who wish to experience eco-friendly and responsible treks through our trained guides and porters contacts and genuine experience in a local home-stay. |
