Preserving Sikkim
Sikkim has been experiencing rising popularity as a trekking point among tourists in the recent years. This, coupled with historical relocation of peoples into the area, has caused imbalance in the social and natural systems. KCC, working closely with the Department of Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management, Kangchendzonga National Park and many more pro-environment organisations, aim to alleviate the problems that come from this imbalance through the promotion of eco-tourism, local awareness on eco-tourism, responsible waste management, fair treatment to local guides and porters and preserving the sanctity of religiously sacred and cultural sites. Throughout the years, KCC have participated actively in initiatives that promote the above-mentioned: |
